TIMELINE

OVERVIEW

UX Internship @ Brightree 🌱

In the summer of 2023, I had the amazing opportunity to join Brightree’s product team where I created a consolidated patient portal experience. I was able to learn from talented professionals and expand my user-interface, prototyping, research, and overall UX design skills.

At the start of the summer I worked closely with my product leaders, learning about the various Brightree platforms: Patient Hub, Connect, Snap, BPC, Mobile Delivery, and more. Because of multiple acquisitions, Brightree has many similar functions spread across different platforms. I was given the task of attempting to merge functionality from these different platforms into one single place, an updated Patient Hub. We wanted to create a platform where patients can order resupply of HME/CPAP materials, pay for their invoices, schedule appointments with their medical provider, and more.

This merge would eliminate the hassle of having countless logins to different sites and help streamline the entire medical equipment process for patients.

My Impact

01

Designed two high fidelity prototypes for a brand new patient portal experience, collaborating with cross-functional partners across all stages

02

Created a new design system for the updated portal, implementing modern fonts, spacing, components, and color variations

03

Ran user research by moderating various usability tests to justify and validate assumptions and decision decisions

04

Showcased my final project in a simple and engaging manner to leaders across multidisciplinary teams

Learnings

01

Don’t be scared to ask questions. At the beginning of my internship, I felt too shy sometimes to reach out when I needed help. I learned how important it is to just ask others without feeling guilty.

02

Time prioritization is key. Planning out how long each aspect of a project will take is crucial in developing a better understanding of your time and how you can best approach tasks.

03

Be proactive and listen to others. I spent many hours at Brightree just listening and absorbing as much information as I could, learning about all of the different platforms within the company.

Here are some pictures of my time interning in Brightree’s Peachtree City office!

After the summer term concluded, my internship was extended. I have been lucky enough to continue to work for Brightree as a UX Design Intern, working full-time again this summer 2024!
